Experienced host of international events, the City of Edmonton, has joined the SportAccord International Convention sponsorship programme as a Bronze sponsor in both 2010 and 2011.

Edmonton boasts an impressive track record of hosting international sports events including the 2001 IAAF World Athletics Championships, 2005 World Masters Games, 2006 IRB Women's Rugby World Cup, 2008 World Canoe Polo Championships and has recently been selected to host the 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.

“The City of Edmonton has been a welcome participant in the SportAccord International Convention for many years, and we are now delighted they have joined our sponsorship programme. They are clearly committed to working with sport to deliver great events and we are sure this elevated support will further enhance the city’s relationship with the international sports movement over the coming years.” Anna Hellman, Executive Director, SportAccord International Convention

“The SportAccord Convention, for us, is our annual opportunity to engage with the international federations on a one to one basis. Edmonton has a proud history of hosting international sports events and we have a long term strategy and vision for the city that places sport at its heart. We are sure this partnership with the SportAccord Convention will help us enhance our relationship with the international sports movement and realise our vision.” Lindsay Harrison, Manager, Event Attraction, Edmonton Tourism
